Backup and restore

Back up your setup to the TV, a USB stick or a network share, and restore it on another TV.

A backup holds your playlists and logins, favourites, custom groups, hidden and renamed channels, and settings. Use it to move to a new TV, or to set up a second one in minutes.

Making a backup#

  1. Go to Settings › Backup and data › Backup Data.
  2. Choose where it goes: this TV, a USB stick, your network share, or another app or cloud storage through the Android file picker.
  3. Optionally choose a passphrase. With one, nobody can open the backup without it. Without one, it can only be restored by Buna TV.

Backups are always encrypted, because they include your service logins.

Restoring#

  1. Go to Settings › Backup and data › Restore Data.
  2. Buna TV lists the backups it can find on the TV, USB sticks and your network share, newest first. Choose one, or Look in another folder.
  3. Enter the passphrase if it has one, and confirm.

Backing up to a PC, Mac or NAS (network share)#

Under Settings › Backup and data › Setup SMB, enter the computer's name or IP address, the shared folder, and a username and password (leave the username empty for guest access). Choose Test connection, then Save. The share then appears as a place to back up to and restore from. The password is kept encrypted on the TV and never included in a backup.
